there was such a lot of sad news over the weekend that i just didn’t fancy reading the sunday papers today & so when browsing the second-hand bookshop next door to my flat this caught my eye.
it’s a copy of the illustrated london news, dated 1st december 1934 & this particular edition was marking the royal nuptials of prince phillip, the duke of kent (queen elizabeth’s uncle) & princess marina of greece. the details of the wedding were amazing but what really made me smile were the advertisements…
i googled prince phill & turns out he was quite the monkey. he had a string of affairs, before & after his marriage, with both men & women & apparently had an illegitimate lovechild with barbara cartland!
I so want an adjustable chair! :)
